Purolator’s Richmond hub expansion now operational

Vancouver (B.C.) April 2, 2009 – Purolator Courier Ltd., Canada’s largest overnight courier company, today announced that the first phases of its newly expanded, state-of-the-art facility in Richmond B.C. are now completed and fully operational.

Equipped with the latest package sortation capabilities and scanning technologies, the 211,000 square foot facility is a key milestone in Purolator’s company-wide investment strategy that is introducing new options, new solutions and new capabilities to its customers.

“The expanded Richmond hub will provide the long-term capacity Purolator requires to ensure the highest standard of service to our customers in the Greater Vancouver Area, the Pacific region and across our entire network,” said Robert C. Johnson, President and C.E.O. of Purolator. “This facility is part of our ongoing investment in maintaining our position as a leading provider of integrated distribution solutions to, from and within Canada.”

The expansion is a unique project as the existing hub was fully operational during construction. Located at 3700 Jericho Road and adjacent to Vancouver International Airport, the Richmond facility is one of Purolator’s most technologically advanced hubs in Canada. With more than 390 employees, the facility will be able to process up to 12,000 pieces of conveyable freight per hour upon completion in August 2009.

The expansion of the Richmond hub plays a key role in Purolator’s company-wide investment strategy which includes an increased investment in technology, infrastructure, processes and employees. The investments are bringing new strengths, increased reach and scope of network – ensuring Purolator has the resources, services and customized solutions to meet customer business needs.
